No wonder Rockcliffe and Colvend Community Council installed a telescope at the beach a few years ago. On a clear day, it’s possible to see across the Solway to the Cumbrian coast and the hills of the Lake District beyond – truly one of the most spectacular views in the Stewartry. It is also shut off during the summer months as it is used by birds for breeding. It can be reached via a causeway although you should check the tide times before you set off to make sure you don’t get stuck.
